Earlier this year, Louisburg Square – a row of townhouses in Beacon Hill that claims tenants like Secretary of State John Kerry – was recognized as the most expensive block in Boston. Real estate site Zillow estimated the median home value to be $6.7 million.
Now, the first townhouse on Louisburg Square to hit the market in three years is making sure the block lives up to its reputation. The eight-bedroom, 5,528-square-foot home at 13 Louisburg Square is listed for $11.6 million.

If it sells at that price, the townhouse will become the most expensive purchase in the street’s history, according to public property records. In April 2012, 3 Louisburg Square sold for $11 million, and in August 2011, 20 Louisburg Square sold for $11.5 million.
13 Louisburg Square last changed hands in 1990, when it sold for $1,150,000, according to Zillow. It was built in 1847 and includes a basement, five fireplaces, two parking spots and one killer view of the Charles River from a private roof deck.
