There’s only one unit left for sale in one of Fort Point’s newest buildings, and there weren’t very many to start. The floor-through penthouse at 10 Farnsworth, a boutique building with only nine units, is listed for $7,500,000.

10 Farnsworth is a contemporary development, but it blends in with the heights of the other buildings in the neighborhood, many of which are brick with industrial roots.

David Nagahiro, a principal at CBT, the project’s architectural firm, noted that this building needed to be approved by the Boston Landmarks Commission, given it is located within the historic Fort Point Channel Landmark District. “This is one of the coolest, most authentic neighborhoods still left in the city,” Nagahiro said. “The idea of creating something that felt like it was really rooted in the neighborhood was important to us.”

Nagahiro noted that although it is a very contemporary building, his firm used materials and colors that were closely related to those found in the neighborhood. “The idea that when you are on the street and you stand back and you sort of squint, the building really does fit in scale-wise,” he said. “But as you get closer, the intention is that it is clearly a contemporary building and a building that was built of its time.”

Thomas Calus, principal and founder of TCR, the building’s developer, said he and his partner, Jas Bhogal, investor and developer at JB Ventures, like smaller-scale projects. “It creates a community where the owners and tenants can get involved in the neighborhood,” Calus said. “We like this scale of building in contrast with some of the bigger buildings that are being built in the Seaport District.”

Noelle Drewicz, associate principal at CBT, gave us a tour of the three-bedroom, 3.5-bath, 4,312-square-foot luxury condo. We even went up to its 1,300-square-foot private roof deck to see its fireplace and city skyline views, along with the building’s community roof deck.
