The saltbox at 34 Hollywood Road in Mattapoisett comes with beach rights. Erik Kowalski

Before this red antique found itself nestled in wooded acreage near the ocean, it had a home on the North Shore. The circa 1680 saltbox sat in Groveland before craftsmen took it apart, moved it to Mattapoisett, and rebuilt it at 34 Hollywood Road.

Now the 5,396-square-foot antique is on the market for $1,849,000, listed by Christopher Demakis of Demakis Family Real Estate. It offers four bedrooms, six full bathrooms, one half bathroom, and seven fireplaces. Its wide-plank flooring, exposed rafters, and wide-mouth fireplaces hail to the 17th century, while its cool-toned paint and updated systems give it a modern boost.

The floral wallpaper in the entry hall and the kitchen cabinets, countertops, and walls — all blue — up the charm in a home with pops of color. A period faucet in the kitchen pays homage to the home’s roots. In the media room, with its neutral paint and modern light fixtures, however, you may forget the structure was pre-Revolutionary War. There’s even a five-car garage and a finished basement.

Outside, an eight-stall barn is equipped with a tack room and wash space, but also holds a riding ring and a caretaker lounge with its own kitchen. In addition to taking horses out on the 6.72 acres that make up the property, the new homeowners can also enjoy the beach, which they will acquire the rights to with the sale.

Technical amenities of the space include 12-zone radiant-heat flooring, alarm and irrigation systems, central air, a generator, and updated electric, insulation, and plumbing.
