Are you are surprised there are some expensive zip codes in the Bay State?
Probably not. There may actually be fewer than you think.
In an annual Forbes list, housing market data company Altos Research looked at the median home price by zip code to determine the 500 most expensive neighborhoods across the United States.
One of Boston’s zip codes, 02108, ranked the highest from Massachusetts at No. 24 with a median home price of $4,023,806. This zip code covers much of Beacon Hill and the Downtown Crossing area of Boston, along with a small area near Haymarket.
There were a couple other Massachusetts zip codes that made it in the top 100, interspersed between so many from California and New York.
Zip code 02554 in Nantucket ranked at No. 74 with a median home price of $2,489,785 and Weston’s 02493 zip code made it as well at No. 87 at a median home price of $2,275,009.
But what’s the most expensive zip code in the United States?
That would be 94027, which is Atherton, California, with a median home price of $10,564,038.
This California zip code was closely followed by a few zip codes in New York City and a couple each from Colorado and California.
