It’s rare that a Boston sale doesn’t make it on the list of big home sales of the week, but this time around, it’s all about the suburbs.
Massive homes in Cambridge, Wellesley, and Brookline — varying in size from 5,564 to 7,566 square feet — sold for sky-high prices ranging from $3.4 million to $4 million.

Built in 1898, this six-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom, 5,647-square-foot Colonial Revival style home sold for $4 million on Tuesday. Though the home has been renovated, there are still plenty of period details, including high ceilings and fireplaces. There’s also a wrap-around deck, a greenhouse, and a lower level with an 18-foot screening/media room and a library.
On Wednesday, this five-bedroom, five-bathroom, two-half bathroom home with 7,566 square feet of living space sold for $3.54 million. Built in 2014, the home’s updates include a steam oven, a center island, a modern gas fireplace, and oversized windows. The walk-out lower level features nine-foot ceilings, a full bathroom, and an exercise/recreation room with a wet bar.

The home includes updates, but has been very well-maintained to keep much of its historic charm. Features include a formal entry hall, a breakfast room with a vaulted ceiling, and several garden areas outside.
