A new two-building apartment complex in Jamaica Plain is leasing now for May, developers Eden Properties and Samuels & Associates announced Monday.

The Brynx sits on the site of the historic Goddard House, a 1920 Shepley Bulfinch-designed building. The renovation at 201 South Huntington Ave. preserves the “character” of the original structure, the developers wrote in a news release, while an additional building, a contemporary one, sits right next to it at 221 South Huntington Ave.

Modern amenities include an indoor rock-climbing wall, automated parking, lounge areas with collaborative workspaces, a dog-washing station (the units are pet-friendly), and bike storage, cleaning, and repair stations. There’s also an outdoor dog run for pets to burn off steam.

Residents can choose from 68 floor plans and 149 total rental apartments ranging from studios to three-bedroom units, according to the release. Studios are priced from $2,460, one-bedrooms from $2,865, two-bedrooms from $3,540, and three-bedrooms (with two baths) from $4,515.

Several units have private outdoor space, and all tenants have access to a community roof deck. The site overlooks the Jamaicaway on a 2-acre lot.

Peter Sougarides, principal at Samuels & Associates, said in a statement that there is “nothing cookie-cutter” about The Brynx.

“We have always admired the beautiful open space and historic architecture of Jamaica Plain and are delighted to have partnered with Eden and Northwestern Mutual [Real Estate] to complete this renovation in a way that pays tribute to the unique character of the neighborhood,” Sougarides said.
