In former Suffolk University Law buildings, The Archer Residences has hit the market

Among Beacon Hill’s handsome historic brownstones, The Archer Residences offer 24-hour “white-glove” service where students once studied the law.

“There really isn’t anything to compare with it if you’re looking for full-service living,” said Kevin Caulfield, managing director of Caulfield Properties, which is handling sales. “It offers the kind of white-glove service larger developments have, but is still quite intimate, with just 62 units. It really does fill a void on Beacon Hill.”

Tucked behind the State House on Temple Street, this new red-brick condominium complex comprises two buildings, now united, that were part of Suffolk University Law School. The developer is Boston-based CCM.

“Most recently the building had been used as classrooms and lecture halls,” Caulfield confirmed. “The original Archer building was built in the 1920s, and the Donahue building went up in the 1950s, so there was a transition space, which has been cleverly used for a staircase and the elevator banks.”

Historic preservation restrictions meant working with the original buildings, so the designers — The Architectural Team, which is based in Chelsea, and Cambridge-based LDa Architecture & Interiors — allowed the buildings to dictate each unit’s footprint and basic design.

“The developer did a great job in preserving what had to be preserved, but that also created a unique building,” Caulfield said. “Most condos have similar units from floor to floor, but here there are different ceiling heights, different windows. Each of these units is very different: Each lives differently.”

Some even have direct street access.

“The different egress to the building meant it was simple to give direct access to some units,” he added. “That’s a popular feature for some.”

Amenities include 24-hour-doorman and concierge services, a clubroom, boardroom, private dining room, fitness center, playroom, and pet spa.

Topping the package is a shared roof terrace with firepits and grills.

“The seating is designed so that people can have smaller spaces for their own private gatherings, too,” Caulfield said. “The views over downtown and to the Garden and the Zakim Bridge are amazing.”

Prices range from $1,450,000 for a 1,201-square-foot one-bedroom to $10,400,000 for a 3,469-square-foot four-bedroom penthouse.

There is on-site garage parking via a valet service and bike storage.

“This location means you can walk anywhere in Boston in 15 minutes,” he said, and “T access is a couple of minutes [away].”

Some buyers have already moved in. A spokesperson for the development declined to say how many units were still available.

The Archer is six floors, plus the penthouses,” Caulfield said. “Also, the level of finish is done really well.”

According to the website, the units offer ceiling heights of 9 to 16 feet; 5-inch rift oak flooring; crown molding; gas fireplaces (in select residences); double-hung and full-wall windows; stone tile; freestanding tubs; waterfall showerheads; rift oak vanities; custom brass hardware; LED under-shelf and under-cabinet lighting; Venato marble countertops and backsplashes; kitchen islands with waterfall edges, walnut tops, and stainless-steel and copper details; and floating oak shelving.
