New England car sales magnate Herb Chambers has put his condo at the Four Seasons Residences on Boylston Street up for sale, per The Wall Street Journal. Listed for an even $18,000,000, the property at 220 Boylston St. Unit 1205/07/09 consists of three continuous homes. The high-rise unit offers three bedrooms, three full bathrooms, one half bathroom, and a study in 3,363 square feet of space, and was listed on April 14 by Michael Carucci, of Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty.

Chambers, who made this year’s Forbes billionaires list, told the Journal that he gutted the unit’s interior and added new heating and electrical systems, Venetian plaster walls, and coffered ceilings. The seven-room home features an open floor plan dining, kitchen, and living space. The kitchen mixes sleek white and wood cabinetry with marbled counters, a mirror backsplash, and a breakfast bar with a cooktop. A large double-door wine fridge is located in the dining area.

Throughout the home, expansive views of the Public Garden are visible through large garden windows. The owner’s suite features a fireplace and built-in bookshelves in the bedroom, a walk-in closet, and a lighted mirror and drop-in tub in the bathroom. The study features more built-in shelving.

The future owners of this condo will get to enjoy all the amenities that the Four Seasons Hotel has to offer, such as the indoor pool and fitness center. The sale also includes two garage parking spaces with the option to either self-park or valet.

Records show that Chambers purchased the condo in 2016 for $8,875,000. He also purchased a condo at the nearby Four Seasons Private Residences One Dalton Street for $18,000,000 in 2019, and told the Journal he bought the Boylston Street residence as a place to live while the former was completed. “I never realized I would be there as long as I have been,” he said.

Now, after moving into the approximately 5,500-square-foot Dalton unit on the 59th floor, Chambers is ready to say goodbye to his Boylston Street pad. The entrepreneur told the Journal that he spends his work days in the Boston area, and that both of the units are a short drive to his office in Somerville.

With an estimated net worth of $2.1 billion, Chambers is a mogul in the New England auto sales market. He owns 60 dealerships in the region that sell auto brands ranging from Ford and Honda to Maserati and Porsche. A Dorchester native and U.S. Navy veteran, Chambers first founded A-Copy America in 1965, and sold it for about $80,000,000 in 1983. Two years later, he bought a Cadillac and Oldsmobile dealership in New London, Conn., and The Herb Chambers Companies was born.
